Spanky’s Project: Education & Rescue for Canines

A little story about Spanky….

Spanky was an English Bulldog – one of 90 dogs surrendered to us from a Lancaster County dog breeding kennel in 2001.  She was one of the unwanted dogs that other breeders and another rescue posing as breeders left behind

On 3/4/04, Spanky died in her sleep due to complications from dental surgery.  During her short time on this earth it became apparent that she was the victim of a lifetime of abuse and neglect with obvious scars and deformities on her thin, underweight body.  After many months of recovery, she became a typical English Bulldog – being a real clown, giving high-fives every morning when we woke, and endearing herself to all who knew her. She loved everyone… human and animal.  She especially loved kids, and they adored her.  Spanky finally knew what it was to be loved.  A friend described Spanky best by saying “she was a cool little girl”.
